Tautai Ecological Mentoring Model

Our Tautai Ecological Mentoring Model is designed to unite and increase the visibility of Pasifika Young People, families and communities through our programs and services. The ecological model begins at the red-base delivering our in-school program Tautai LEAD, through small group mentoring, focussing on ones core cultural identity.

Building on Tautai LEAD are our offerings within Tautai EXCEL (green). This is a range of programs and spaces that strengthen the gifts, talents and interests of young people, we draw on the expertise of our community leading in a variety of vocational and recreational areas of interest.

Finally Tautai ALL OUT (blue) is our community outreach program that offers a space of social connection and wellbeing through various activities.

Overall the Tautai Ecological Mentoring Model draws on the collective strength of our community to journey alongside and empower our young pasifika people to thrive.

Tautai LEAD

In-School Small Group Mentoring

Tautai LEAD is our flagship in-school mentoring program that has been in operation since 2013. Tautai LEAD supports the transition, retention and engagement of Pasifika young people in schools. The program is co-designed with young people to foster leadership and self-determination in support towards improved educational outcomes.

Tautai LEAD is structured from a minimum of 10 weeks to 1 year and is delivered weekly during a school time period. Schools can access the Foundational 10 week program and will then have the option of adding on one or two more 10 week blocks. Each block of 10 weeks is sequentially designed to build on and strengthen from the previous block. Download our brochure here: Tautai LEAD

Overall the program aims to Enhance ones Holistic Wellbeing by: Strengthening cultural identity and awareness, Fostering strong healthy relationships, Enhancing self-awareness, Enhancing self-confidence, Increase resilience and Enhancing interpersonal communication skills.

Tautai EXCEL

Local Community Small group personal and community development

Tautai EXCEL are a suite of programs that are designed to meet the career and educational aspirations of young people. Over the years these programs haved ranged from After School homework clubs to a Spoken Word Club and from an Entrepreneurship program to Performing Arts workshops.

All these programs are driven out of a need expressed by young people and/or our communities. These programs leverage the wealth of knowledge and expertise held within our very own communities. Tautai EXCEL offers platforms of expression for young people to shine.

Tautai ALL OUT

Community Outreach

Tautai ALL OUT are our school holiday programs that are designed to create positive spaces of social connection. Tautai ALL OUT unites our students across all our programs, together with their family, friends and the wider community. Some of our events include: Sports Day 2022; Sum mer Express Holiday Program; Unheard Voices

Tautai ALL OUT offers further opportunity for our young people to build, develop and apply their leadership skills by co-designing activities (see here) and volunteering their time to deliver the programs.

Customised Programs and Workshops

We also co-design and create programs suited to young person needs and school needs.
